Devious Journal Entry

Journal Entry: Sat Apr 22, 2006, 9:46 AM
So yeah, I was looking at the whole thing with DA kicking °jark out last year, and having a look at the submission policy from a perspective of bad-faith interpretation rather than good-faith.

And a week or so ago, I got some email that reminded me about the time I got pushed out of something I helped build, and believed in.

All my stuff's hidden for the moment while I ponder this. If you want to keep up with my art, there's my website and my livejournal.

Bye for now. I may be back. I dunno.

I'm not happy with DA, but I can never get around to checking people's websites for new stuff, or indeed keep my own website up to date. We really need a good art community, without the bollocks.

I may act like a total shite, but that's no reason not to buy my prints.

Not quite sure I understand what you are saying or what point you are making. I'll give it some thought when I have the brain time free to do it, I guess.

I need to turn the RSS feed on my website, so people geeky enough to use that can keep up. Not sure what percentage of my fans that includes, but...

There's language in the submission policy that you can interpret as 'we can do anything you want with your art including make money off it and give you nothing'. You can read it as just 'we can make thumbnails and show your stuff via the site', but if you don't trust the administration, you can read it the other way. I got reminded of a time I trusted someone I shouldn't have, with... consequences.

Ahh, that's kind of what I figured you meant (after thinking for a while about what "bad faith" means). I've realised that, but I guess I don't particularly value my own art highly enough to care. There was a time when I did, though.

I can understand it in your position, though. Probably for the best.

Considering you can easily add an RSS feed to Gmail... I'd put it in there if I remembered. :3

(I left, except for the occassional comment on friends' works, for different reasons.)

I was aware of the potential that they could make money off of my art, if they were so evilly inclined, before I signed up. This is decidedly not a problem for me, but for someone like you, who really makes the rest of us look bad by being on a largely armature art site, I'm sure it's worth thinking long and hard about. Also, I hate it when people allude to awful (and fascinating) anecdotes wherein they are screwed over by someone, and then decline to elaborate. You tease!

Animation studio, most of the rest of the core crew got Warner's jobs, I got pretty explicitly told not to come along. Later on, the whimsical web site I was instrumental in implementing became a TV show about robot monkeys. I was glad when it tanked.
